Description

Wild-Harvested from the Treetops of Sumatra

Deep within the tropical rainforests of Sumatra, wild Apis dorsata honeybees build expansive open-air hives high on towering Tualang trees. These remarkable trees rise more than 250 feet above the forest floor, allowing bees to forage across a vast ecosystem of native rainforest blooms.

Black Tualang Honey is harvested from these elevated treetop hives using traditional climbing techniques passed down through generations. The honey matures naturally in the warm equatorial climate before being carefully collected and minimally handled to preserve its authentic character.

This grade is known for its rich, dark amber color and bold flavor profile. Laboratory analysis confirms a high concentration of naturally occurring pollen grains sourced from diverse rainforest plant life. The result is a honey that reflects the complexity and depth of Sumatraโ€™s tropical biodiversity.

This botanical diversity also contributes to the presence of naturally occurring polyphenols, plant-derived compounds that are part of honeyโ€™s antioxidant profile.

Flavor Profile

Dark amber in color with an intense, complex character and a gently spicy finish. Smooth texture with natural crystallization over time.

Why Itโ€™s Special

Quality & Testing

This honey is independently tested for quality, safety, and composition through internationally recognized laboratories.

Testing includes microbiological analysis and evaluation of key honey characteristics, helping ensure purity and consistency. Additional studies have examined the natural antimicrobial properties of honey and its interaction with microbial environments.

Certifications such as Halal and regional quality standards further support responsible sourcing and handling practices.

Which Tualang Honey Should You Choose?

Tualang honey is graded based on measurable characteristics such as Total Activity (TA), pollen count, and botanical diversity. These natural differences reflect the range of rainforest plant sources collected by bees during each harvest.

Platinum Grade

The highest level of selection, with exceptional pollen diversity and elevated Total Activity. Represents the most complex expression of Tualang honey.

Black Premium

A concentrated, high-pollen grade with strong Total Activity levels.
This variety offers a balance between the intensity of standard Black and the elevated characteristics of Platinum, making it a popular choice for those looking for a high-quality, versatile option.

Black

Known for strong pollen presence and robust Total Activity. A bold and concentrated rainforest honey.

Red

A balanced grade with moderate pollen diversity and activity levels, reflecting seasonal variation in nectar sources.

Yellow

Lighter in composition with lower pollen density, representing a narrower range of floral sources.

Because Tualang honey is wild-harvested, each batch may vary slightly depending on seasonal blooms and environmental conditions.
